Cutera xeo Spider Vein Therapy

Spider veins and blood vessel telangiectasia are most frequently seen on the nose, cheeks, chin, and legs. They are often successfully treated by Vbeam laser and pulse light modalities. Cherry angiomas are small red raised lesions on the torso and extremities. Vbeam laser can successfully vaporize these lesions, with excellent cosmetic results.

Cutera CoolGlide medical lasers provide a safe, effective, non-invasive alternative to traditional treatments of unsightly spider veins that can occur on the face or legs. By emitting precise, brief pulses of light energy to the affected areas, this laser treatment avoids the surrounding tissues and heats the target blood vessels, causing the coagulation and destruction of the blood vessel, which is later reabsorbed by the body.

Specific Treatments

Spider veins (telangiectasias) are the small red, blue, or purple veins, most commonly occurring on the face and thighs. Patients of all skin tones can experience excellent results with CoolGlide in the elimination of these unsightly veins. Patients will need to consult with their physicians determine the best course of treatment.

Treatments and Procedure

The frequency of treatments will depend on number, color, depth, and size of the vessels that need to be treated, but most patients experience desired results after one or two treatments. The procedure causes little discomfort and requires no anesthetic. As the pulsation of laser energy is delivered by the handpiece along the length of each vessel, patients often experience a mild burning or stinging sensation which quickly fades after the procedure.

Recovery

Spider veins can be treated quickly without bruising or complications. Occasionally, redness or slight swelling may occur but will fade within 24 hours. Patients are usually advised to avoid strenuous activity for 24 hours following a procedure and to protect the treated areas by avoiding direct sunlight and using sunscreen, but otherwise, most patients can resume normal activities immediately following a procedure.

Results

Most patients observe significant improvement in the treated veins within two to six weeks of the treatment. While new veins may possibly appear over time, these can also be removed with CoolGlide treatments.
