Xeomin

Xeomin is designed to temporarily improve the appearance of frown lines between the eyebrows, and glabellar lines. These are caused by the contraction of muscles between the eyebrows, and on the forehead, when a person squints or frowns. With age, the skin that is folded and wrinkled by these muscle contractions loses elasticity, and the lines become more persistent. Xeomin targets the nerve endings in the fibers of these muscles, reducing contractions and thereby temporarily reducing the lines they cause.

One thing that sets Xeomin apart is the fact that it is considered a “naked” neuromodulator, meaning that it contains no additives, thus decreasing the likelihood of the body building up a resistance or having a reaction to the medication.

Treatments and Procedure
Xeomin treatments are relatively painless, and no anesthetic is required. However, at our office we may apply a topical anesthetic to increase comfort during the procedure. The procedure is also fast, usually requiring only 10 to 20 minutes to inject the medication into the targeted areas.

Recovery

There is no downtime required for recovery, and patients can resume their daily activities immediately after a treatment.

Results

Visible smoothing is often observed within 3 to 4 days after a Xeomin treatment, and improvement will continue. The desired effect can last from three to six months, after which time patients can safely repeat treatment sustained results.
