Achieve Soft Skin with Personalized Laser Hair Removal Treatments

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is a non-surgical and minimally invasive treatment for removing unwanted hair. While it can be done on almost any part of the body, except the eyelids, most people get it done on the legs, face, bikini area, or underarms. The effects last longer than do those of other treatments such as waxing or plucking.

How Does It Work?

In laser hair removal, the doctor will use a special device that emits a laser which will harmlessly pass through the skin. The pigment in the hair follicles attracts the laser which heats it up and destroys it. A few days later, the hair will fall out. The destruction of the follicle means it will never grow back.

The Motus AX laser, is the first laser that can be safely used on clients with dark skin. It owes that trait to the Moveo handpiece, which contains a cooled sapphire cylinder tip and a cooling system. As a result, the treatment is completely comfortable. In addition, all the laser energy is absorbed by the hair follicle, so the treatment is quicker. The patient may still need multiple treatments, however. Hair has a life cycle with three distinct stages: growth phase, resting phase, and shedding. Lasers only work on hair that’s in the growth phase and has no effect on hair that is resting or about to be shed. Since not all hair is in the same stage at the same time, most patients will need several treatments to get the desired results. This is especially true if the patient has a lot of thick hair.

How Should the Patient Prepare for Laser Hair Removal?

The patient should avoid tanning beds and the sun for at least a month before treatment. They should not pluck or wax the treatment area, for that could reduce the laser’s efficacy. On the other hand, they should shave the treatment site a day or two before their session.

On the day of their appointment, the patient should clean the treatment site. They should not use deodorants, cosmetics, perfumes, or any similar products on it. They should wear clothing that either fits loosely or leaves the treatment area exposed. Laser hair removal can make the treatment site sensitive, so tight or abrasive clothing could irritate it.
