Juvéderm Ultra XC and Ultra Plus XC are colorless gels that are injected into facial tissue to add smooth wrinkles, diminish folds and render a fuller, smoother appearance. Juvéderm Ultra provides more superficial results while Ultra Plus works on deeper lines and folds. Juvéderm works well with all skin types and colors, men and women.
Treatments are not recommended for women who are pregnant, so patients will need to consult with their doctors to work out a treatment plan based on their needs and conditions.
Treatment and Procedure
The procedure involves injections of juvaderm ultra xc or juvaderm ultra plus xc, via a small needle or a fine plastic cannula.
Recovery
The treatment sites may be immediately sensitive following a procedure. Patients may also experience some redness or other minor side effects, but these will fade within a few days. There is little downtime for this treatment. Patients should avoid strenuous activity, the gym, and prolonged exposure to heat for 24 hours following a procedure.
Results
Results are immediate, and patients may also observe an improved appearance over the period of a few days. Results can vary widely in effect and permanence depending on the condition treated and how fast the body breaks down the injected gel. Usually results will last up to a year, so one to two treatments a year can help patients maintain optimal cosmetic improvement.
