Excessive or undesirable hair growth can be reversed or eliminated over time with both pulse light and lasers. The hair removal system works by delivering a precise, customized pulse of infrared light to the germ cell of the hair follicle, disabling it so that it will not grow back. The hair removal laser offers a potentially more permanent option for hair removal as compared to waxing, electrolysis, or creams.
Specific treatments
Laser hair removal is ideal for anyone who has unwanted hair. It is safe for a wide range of skin types and can remove hair from all parts of the body including:
Sensitive areas like the chest, nipples, bikini line can also be treated.
Treatments and Procedure
The total number of treatments can vary depending on the patient’s hair thickness, the size of the treated area, and the patient’s hair growth cycle. The laser targets and disables hair that is mainly in the active growth phase at the time of treatment, and because different hairs will enter this phase at different times, additional treatments are sometimes required to disable all of the follicles in the treated area. Most patients receive 3 to 6 treatments to achieve the desired result for a given area.
Procedure duration times will also vary depending on the area. During the procedure, patients may feel a mild pinching or stinging sensation but no significant discomfort.
Recovery
After a procedure, patients may observe some redness or swelling similar to a sunburn, but these effects usually fade within a few hours. Most patients are able to resume normal activities immediately, but the use of sunscreen is recommended for those treated areas that may be exposed to the sun.
