Life has a way of leaving a mark on your skin in the form of fine lines, wrinkles, dark spots, and other skin imperfections, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t turn back the clock. With the advent of advanced technologies, it is now easier than ever for women and men to recapture a youthful appearance and restore their confidence. At the office of Dr. Michael I. Jacobs in New York, NY we believe that advanced anti-aging treatments are the key to healthy and supple skin. One such treatment is Vivace, a revolutionary all-in-one treatment ideally suited to most patients.
What Are the Amazing Benefits of Vivace?
Innovative high-tech treatments are the pinnacle of modern cosmetic treatments. More and more, cosmetic physicians rely on nuanced technology to produce unparalleled results for all types of rejuvenation, from anti-aging solutions to skin restoration. Undoubtedly, the main benefit of a revolutionary treatment like Vivace is the fact that it exists at all. Nevertheless, there are other benefits that are attractive to prospective patients, including:
Three Technologies in One
Vivace combines three different skin rejuvenation methods into one treatment, which is what is responsible for producing the unrivaled results. This treatment uses PRP, microneedling, and radiofrequency to simultaneously treat all levels of the skin at one time. Not sure what any of these treatments do individually? We’ll break it down for you.
PRP stands for platelet-rich plasma, which is a solution that possesses all the natural restorative properties found in the blood. PRP is a substance created from the patient’s own blood, meaning that after a blood draw, the platelets in the blood are isolated and then applied to the skin. By itself, PRP is a treatment that can be used for many reasons.
The secret to PRP lies in the plasma itself. Plasma, which is a clear substance when separated from red blood cells, is responsible for clotting wounds and promoting healing. When that plasma is applied to the skin it can directly treat such skin imperfections as scarring and fine lines. PRP is currently being used both in cosmetics and to treat medical issues like arthritis.
Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that has been gaining popularity for over a decade. Microneedling is a technique that uses small needles to create pin-pricks on the skin, penetrating the dermal and sub-dermal layers to create micro-injuries. These micro-injuries prompt the body to start the production of natural healing properties: specifically, the turnover of new skin cells and proteins within the deeper layers of skin. Microneedling as an independent treatment is used to correct imperfections on the skin surface as well as improve visible signs of aging.
Radiofrequency treatments are a newer technology application for cosmetic treatments. Radiofrequency is a type of energy-based treatment that produces a small amount of heat to stimulate processes within the skin. As with microneedling, radiofrequency treatments incite the production of certain properties in the skin, and specifically collagen and elastin.
Both collagen and elastin are proteins within the skin that provide structure to the skin. As we age, our body naturally slows the production of these proteins, which is what creates fine lines, wrinkles, and skin laxity. By using heat to stimulate the production of these proteins, the body can reverse visible signs of aging.
Why This 3-in-1 Combination Is Revolutionary
Apart, any one of these treatments can produce excellent anti-aging results. However, when these methods are combined into one treatment, they are capable of treating each individual layer of skin, meaning the overall treatment is thrice as productive. The PRP conditions the skin, the microneedling pushes the PRP into the skin to deliver healing properties while also kick-starting natural regeneration, and the radiofrequency heats the deeper dermal layers to stimulate other regenerative properties. The single delivery of these three methods means that this treatment is potent and powerful.
It’s worth emphasizing that the combination of three treatment methods means that the treatment itself is incredibly versatile. Instead of being limited to treating one area of the face or only one layer of skin, this innovative treatment can address skin concerns on the skin surface, the next dermal layer, and the sub-dermal layers beneath: and it can be used on every facial region.
What It Treats
This treatment is primarily used for anti-aging, meaning its focus of treatment is concerned mostly with the reversal of certain visible skin issues. However, this treatment is also used to diminish the appearance of acne scars and other sustained damage to the skin that does not occur naturally. This is a treatment that can correct a variety of skin concerns, including:
- Fine lines
- Expression lines around mouth and eyes
- Skin laxity
- Uneven skin texture
- Pigmentation and uneven skin tone
- Sun damage and dark spots
Safe and Reliable
A huge benefit of this treatment is knowing for sure that it is a safe and reliable treatment for everyone. Some cosmetic treatments that use energy can equal uncertainty for the safety of the treatment device, especially for patients with medium and dark skin complexions. However, the moderated RF energy used for this treatment can be tailored to the patient, meaning that the treatment is safe for all skin types and skin tones.
Some patients like knowing that their cosmetic treatments have FDA approval. This treatment has been approved by the FDA since 2016 and has been cleared for the use of diminishing fine lines, wrinkles, uneven skin tone, and uneven skin texture. Treatments that have FDA approval have passed scientific clinical trials and studies before being released on the open market, so you can be certain that any treatment cleared by the FDA has high safety ratings.
No Downtime and No Delay
Many cosmetic treatments to tighten, lift, and perfect skin come with an unavoidable downtime to allow for recovery. With this treatment, patients are able to return to normal activities the next day, meaning that this treatment has virtually zero downtime. The less downtime a treatment has, the sooner you can reap the benefits and get back to your life without interruption. This treatment restores your freedom and confidence without delay.
What Can You Expect From Vivace Treatment?
Many patients assume that advanced treatments have a complicated treatment process. We’re happy to tell you that, from start to finish, this treatment is straightforward and does not involve any complications. At our office, you can certainly expect to follow a few steps for this treatment, such as:
Before you can schedule your treatment appointment, you will need to attend a consultation so that we can assess your qualifications for this treatment. We will talk about your aesthetic goals and your expectations for treatment. We will also gather some general information, such as your medical history, current medications you are taking, and how prone your skin is to scarring.
Prior to your treatment appointment, we will provide you with a list of instructions to follow before treatment. These pre-treatment instructions will help make sure each aspect of your treatment is safe and successful. Some pre-treatment instructions may include:
- Stop taking blood-thinning medications
- Do not take NSAID medications
- Avoid certain herbal supplements and vitamins
- Drink adequate water the day before your appointment
- Stop using retinol products
- Do not smoke or drink 24 hours before your appointment
You will not need to arrange for transportation after your treatment. Please arrive at the appointment with a clean face.
Your treatment appointment will involve two main steps. From start to finish, this treatment usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes. For patient comfort, we do offer a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable for the duration of the treatment, so if you would like to use this numbing cream, please let us know at the start of your appointment so it has time to begin working.
Step One: PRP Creation
The first thing we will do is create the PRP. We will need to do a blood draw–usually an amount similar to what you might give for a blood donation or for regular lab work. Once your blood is drawn, we put the vial into a centrifuge which rapidly spins to isolate the plasma from the surrounding red blood cells. The final product of this process is a thick, clear substance: the PRP.
Step Two: Microneedling With RF
After we coat your skin in the PRP, we will use the handheld treatment device on your skin. You should not feel any significant sensation while the microneedling with RF energy is being performed. Most patients feel a small amount of heat, pressure, or a tingling sensation that lasts only for the duration of the treatment. We will give special focus to any problem areas on your skin.
After your treatment is complete, we will provide you with a list of post-treatment instructions to follow. These post-treatment instructions will help you take care of your skin while it is healing so that you can have optimal results. Some post-treatment instructions may include:
- Drink plenty of water
- Do not touch or scrub skin for 24 hours
- Avoid wearing make-up for 24 hours
- Moisturize generously
- Avoid excess heat and direct sunlight
- Use sun protection
This treatment does not have a significant recovery time. The majority of patients are free to return to all normal daily activities, including washing the face and wearing makeup, 24 hours after treatment. Patients should always moisturize and wear sunscreen to protect the skin. We may recommend you use certain skincare products.
Results for this treatment vary from patient to patient. Most patients will begin noticing results 3 to 7 days after treatment, which will usually be a reduced appearance in fine lines and a healthy glow to the skin. For optimal results, we recommend patients have at least 3 treatment appointments spaced 2 to 4 weeks apart, especially if this is your first time with this treatment.
How Long Do Results Last?
Results for this treatment depend on how well your body responds and how long you continue to produce collagen. Many patients continue to enjoy results for 3 to 4 months after treatment, meaning that regular treatment appointments can be done 4 times a year to sustain results.
Are You a Candidate for Vivace?
Most patients who are interested in this treatment are qualified candidates. If you are not satisfied with your overall appearance and want to correct mild-to-moderate skin imperfections, then this treatment might be right for you. You may be a good candidate if you want to:
- Reduce fine lines and wrinkles
- Improve skin laxity
